This brightly decorated serene figure of Guanyin, is decorated to the rear with Famille Rose roundalls, and sprigs of flowers. A square aperture in the centre of her back. The front with a rouge decorated dress with a border of famille rose patterns. The shawl fully covering the shoulders and brow of her head. Her left hand holding a scroll.
Condition: Some overpainting to hands.
Figures of Guanyin with apertures in their backs were made for the Captains of their ships, they placed them in their cabins sleeping quarters, for decoration, during the long journey home. They would of been hung on a hook, to stop the figure getting damaged in rough seas.
