A Finely glazed, Rare Turquoise Pear Shaped Vase, Qianlong seal mark and of the period 1736 – 1795.


A pear shaped vase, evenly and brightly enameled in a strong turquoise glaze. The elegant shaped voluptuous body draws into a tall elongated neck, the splayed top rim finishes off this majestic Imperial vase. The mark strongly and proudly incised on the base.

Only one other turquoise glazed vase of this shape Qianlong mark and period, has come onto the market, sold in Sotheby’s Hong Kong, from the T.Y Chao Private and Family Trust Collections of Important Chinese Ceramics and Jade Carvings: Part II, 19th May 1987, lot 277, from the Edward T Chow collection.

Condition;  A circular crack around the top of the neck, another crack going half way around the body. The cracks professionally conserved.
